Solitude

Solitude:

Some words tell stories without sentences.

Like the crumbling mansion in the midst of high rise apartments;

Lime plaster peeling, colours painted and re-painted to hide it’s wrinkles.

With the patio chairs so resolute in their standing,

Moving them would look unsavoury, almost too bitter.

Solitude marks the trait of its people, its generations filtering in and out.

And in one swift motion, gone are the ageing details.

In its place, stands unwavering, the remarkable collective.

In its place of solitude, stands the mansion resolute.
